This is a vintage Japanese Kutani-style sake service, comprising one tokkuri (徳利) pouring flask and two matching choko (お猪口) cups, their surfaces covered in a dense field of hand-applied dots over a deep indigo ground, finished with gold karakusa (scrolling vine) medallions and a maroon-and-gold key-fret band at the neck.

Cultural & historical narrative
The dot-covered surface here follows in the spirit of aochibu (青粒), a labor-intensive Kutani decorating technique in which individual dots of enamel are applied one by one with a fine icchin tool — traditionally in green, though blue and other color variants were also produced — building up a textured, almost woven surface that catches light differently than a flat glaze. Layered over this ground, the gold karakusa scrollwork carries its own symbolism: an unbroken, ever-spreading vine pattern long read in Japanese decorative art as a wish for continued prosperity and longevity, a fitting motif for a vessel meant to accompany shared drinking and celebration. The tokkuri's flared, trumpet-like neck is a classic sake flask silhouette, designed for easy pouring into the small, handleless choko cups that traditionally accompany it.
